Basia and Marek in the Whirling Shadow Library

Basia loved spending afternoons in the library. She associated the smell of old books with adventure, and real treasures could be discovered between the shelves. One rainy Tuesday, Basia came with Marek, her best friend. Marek claimed that the library was boring, but was persuaded when he heard the legend of a secret room hidden somewhere in the cellars.
That day, as the librarian disappeared behind a door marked 'Employees', Basia noticed that one of the bookshelves had shifted slightly, revealing a narrow gap. Without hesitation, she pulled Mark by the sleeve.
- Look! There's something behind the bookcase!
They carefully slipped into the gap and behind it they saw an old wooden door with a carved pattern depicting strange creatures and swirling stars. Marek touched the handle, which was icy cold.
- 'I don't think this is an ordinary room,' he whispered, and his voice echoed.
Basia looked at him with excitement and fear at the same time. After a brief exchange of glances, they made a decision. Marek gently pressed the door handle. The door squeaked and slowly opened, revealing a swirling blue mist. A slight humming sounded from inside, like the rustling of millions of pages being turned at once.
- 'I think this is the portal...' - whispered Basia with wide-open eyes.
Suddenly, a luminous branch reached out from within the palms of the door and lightly brushed their hands. A bright glow surrounded them, and strange shadows with familiar but slightly deformed shapes began to appear around them. The door began to slam shut and the children felt the floor beneath them begin to sway....
