Blue Gap under Old Oak

Wiki always claimed that the park on Oak Street hides more than is apparent at first glance. Her friend Kuba laughed at these stories, but deep down he really wanted them to be true. One afternoon, just after lessons, Wiki took him out near Old Oak.
- 'Look,' she said, pointing to a tree trunk. - Can you see it?
A faint blue glow was glowing between the thick, cracked roots. Cuba furrowed his brow and crouched closer. The light swirled gently, as if someone had scattered auroras across the sky and enclosed them in a small window of earth. Intrigued, he reached out his hand, but Wiki quickly stopped him.
- Wait. First we need to see if it's anything ... dangerous - she whispered, looking around nervously.
Suddenly, the neighbour's dog, Patch, jumped out of the shadows on the other side of the tree and, with a wagging tail, jumped straight into the blue glow. Instead of bouncing off the ground, the animal... disappeared! Wiki and Kuba froze. They heard a quiet bark, as if very, very far away.
- Where has it gone? - hissed Kuba, but Wiki was already picking up a stone to shine deeper.
She looked through the luminous crack and was stunned. Instead of roots, she saw colourful meadows and strange trees with silver leaves. The clouds there were shaped like fish and levitated just above the grass. Someone - or something - moved among these unusual landscapes. Out of the shadows slid a figure resembling a bit of a human and a bit of... an owl. Its amber eyes looked straight towards Wiki and Kuba, and a circle of sparkling light curled around it.
- 'Let's go,' whispered Wiki, grabbing Kuba's hand.
They both held their breath and carefully moved closer to the portal. Behind their backs, the distant, slightly distorted bark of a Patch sounded again, and the figure on the other side slowly began to approach them....
