Button of emotion

Maximilian and Lena's school looked ordinary - red bricks, creaking stairs and constantly too-short breaks. But one Monday, when the bell announced the end of lessons, Lena stopped at the door leading to the basement.
- Maks, look! The door is open! - she whispered, and her eyes shone. - Come on, just for a moment!
Maks was usually cautious, but this time curiosity won out over fear. The cellar was dark and smelled old. Among the scattered old books and dusty globes, Lena spotted a small box on the windowsill. She opened the lid and inside lay a silver button, glowing softly blue.

And then something amazing happened: whirling luminous images representing their thoughts and feelings appeared on the wall. Maks' fear turned into a shadow moving across the floor, and Lena's excitement turned into a shaft of bright light.
- He is showing what we are feeling! - shouted Lena, laughing and looking around the room. However, Maks' shadow grew and grew....
- Maybe we should stop? - asked Maks, but before Lena had time to answer, the shadow pulled away from the floor and moved towards them....
