Clock in the Tower of the Magi

Maja and Philip, thirteen-year-old twins, loved going on field trips. One rainy Saturday, instead of sitting at home, they decided to go to the hill outside the town where the old, abandoned Tower of the Magi stood. Legend had it that remnants of ancient magic could still be found inside.
The door to the tower gave way surprisingly easily, creaking ominously. Inside was semi-darkness, and the air smelled of dust and old books. Philip took out a torch and began to examine the walls, which were covered with faded runes. "Look! What's that?" - exclaimed Maja, pointing to the spiral staircase leading to the very top.
They climbed to the top, dodging loose stones and cobwebs. In the attic they found a large brass clock. It had only one hand made of polished crystal and a dial covered with strange symbols. The inscription on the clock was in Latin: "Time here does not listen to the usual rules".
Philip couldn't resist - he gently turned the crystal hand. Suddenly, the clock shook and sparks came out of the dial. The whole tower trembled, and the staircase began to disappear as if someone were rubbing it out of reality with an eraser.
Maja grabbed her brother's hand. Their bodies were pierced by electricity, and swirling lights flashed around them. When they looked down, they saw that instead of the familiar village, a forest full of giant purple mushrooms and glowing trees stretched around them.
The clock stopped and the hand on its dial began to glow blue. Suddenly, something moved in the corner of the loft - a shadowy silhouette rose slowly and looked at the twins with shining eyes....
