Felko's Clock and the Lost Age

Felek was sure it was going to be the dullest afternoon in the world. It was raining and his parents had forbidden him to play on the computer, so he wandered around the house like a ghost. Eventually, he went down to the basement - a place full of cobwebs, old crates and a whole lot of stuff that he supposedly needed one day.
Suddenly his gaze stopped on something strange. On a shelf, among dusty jars, stood an old brass clock. It did not resemble an ordinary alarm clock. It had a lot of strange buttons, and instead of numbers on the dial - mysterious symbols.
- What is this? - whispered Felek and reached for the clock, which was heavier than it looked. He circled it carefully, examining it from all sides. Then he noticed the inscription carved on the underside: "You who sometimes rule, do not be afraid of mysterious ways."
Moments later, Amelka, Felk's friend, came down to the cellar. She was a year older than him and always up for an adventure. - What have you got?
Felek showed the clock. - It looks like... I don't know, a machine from a sci-fi movie!
- Let's try pressing something here - suggested Amelka. They carefully pressed the biggest button. The hands of the clock began to turn faster and faster until they turned into a blurry silver spiral. Suddenly, a quiet sound came from inside the clock, as if someone was whispering very far away, and the air around them became thick and smelled of ozone.
The cellar disappeared. Felek and Amelka felt themselves falling, although there was nowhere to fall. Images flashed around them: dinosaurs, knights in shining armour, old steam engines and even flying cars! Everything was spinning, until suddenly there was a bang!
They had landed... somewhere. The sun was different, the sky was a slight purple hue, and in the distance stood buildings they had never seen before. Next to them was the same clock, and strange figures began to appear around them - some dressed like ancient warriors, others wearing suits from the future.
A voice rang out: - Welcome, time travellers. Your trial is about to begin...
