Forest Assembly under the Old Oak Tree

In the heart of the Green Forest, where the leaves rustle even at the slightest gust of wind and the sun's rays dance on the moss, grew the oldest tree in the area - a mighty oak called by everyone the Old Sage. Under its spreading branches, the animals met every year to discuss matters of importance to the entire forest community. This year, however, the atmosphere was completely different.
Franek the fox, known in the forest for his curiosity and brave heart, woke up early in the morning with a strange premonition. He slipped out of his burrow right by the stream and stretched lazily. Franek loved the dawn, when the world was still hazy and the air smelled of the promise of adventure.
As soon as he had warmed himself up, he trotted nimbly through the moss to the forest clearing. There, Tula the hedgehog was already waiting for him, laughing and energetic, even though she was always a little sleepy in the morning. - Franek, come quickly! - she called out. - Look what I found!
There were strange footprints on the damp earth, right next to the roots of the Old Sage. They were bigger than a fox's footprints, or even than a badger's paw print. They looked as if someone had stepped here very slowly, with caution, as if they were thinking about each step.
- 'I've never seen those before,' Tula said quietly, glancing at Frank. - Which animal could leave such footprints?
They did not have time to think any longer, because Professor Bubo emerged from behind a thicket of beech trees. The owl, who knew almost everything about the forest, flew silently in, as if he had appeared out of thin air.
- Welcome young explorers! - said the Professor, correcting his spectacles (actually they were a frame made of two acorns and a piece of spider's web, but Professor Bubo thought they added to his seriousness). - What is it that brings you here at this hour?
Franek and Tula showed him the footsteps. Professor Bubo leaned over, then blinked twice. - These footprints don't belong to anyone I know in the forest... But I think I saw similar ones when I was still a very young owl. It was during a winter full moon, a long time ago.
Suddenly the wind blew, the leaves rustled, and a prolonged hooting sounded in the distance. The three friends looked at each other. The whole forest seemed to hold its breath. Could it be that someone completely new had appeared in the Green Forest?
At that moment, a quiet snap of branches could be heard just behind the Old Oak. The animals froze. What was hiding in the shadow of the tree? This they did not yet know...
