Glass Chamber in the Attic

Lena had never believed in magic, at least not until she and her family moved into Aunt Jadzia's huge, creaky house. The house, closed practically for years, was full of dusty furniture and rustling cobwebs, but also infinite nooks and crannies and hiding places that Lena and her younger brother Kacper explored every day during the holidays. One afternoon, as a thunderstorm rocked the tops of the trees, Lena was chasing her cat Fluffy upstairs until she suddenly stopped in front of an old wooden door at the end of the corridor. It had a tiny glass key hanging on a hook. Lena decided that, after all, the door to the attic should have been open a long time ago, after all, Aunt Jadzia had cleaned there. - Kacper! - she called out. - Come quickly! That must be the entrance to the attic! Kacper ran up in a rush, clutching a book about dragons under his arm. Together they turned the glass key and the door creaked open, revealing a winding staircase leading upwards. There was a smell of lavender in the air, mixed with dust and... something else. Something Lena couldn't name. At the top of the stairs, they found themselves in a large, circular chamber made entirely of glass. Sparkling crystal lamps hung from the ceiling, vivid lights crept along the walls, arranged in strange patterns. In the centre stood an old-fashioned, ornate casket. - What is this place? - whispered a fascinated Kacper. Before Lena had time to reply, the casket quietly trembled, and a hazy, silvery glow began to emerge from within. Suddenly, the chamber trembled and the glass beneath their feet began to slowly change....
