Grandma Christina's secret drawer

Basia always liked to visit her grandmother Christina. Her flat on the top floor smelled of dried herbs, and books and jars of colourful buttons piled up on the shelves. In every drawer, something unusual could be found: letters from years ago, twisted ribbons or plastic people without heads. But one of the drawers in the large secreter in the living room was always locked.
That afternoon, Basia was sitting in a soft armchair and stroking her cat Figl, who was purring loudly, as if he wanted to tell his story. She walked over to the secreter and gently pulled the handle of the secret drawer. It did not budge. Next to the drawer hung a small, shiny key on a thread. Basia looked at the cat. "Do you think this is the one?" - she asked in a whisper. Figiel had something mischievous in his eyes, as if to say, "Try it and you'll see."
Basia carefully slid the key into the lock. She heard a quiet click. At the same moment, the clock in the living room struck three o'clock, and a strange whispering sound came from outside the window, which the girl had not heard before. The drawer opened wide, and inside was something Basia had not expected at all.
Inside lay an old parchment rolled up, a few dried mint leaves and a small, shiny ball of unknown colours. When Basia touched the sphere, the room suddenly swirled and the light went out for a brief moment. The cat Figiel wagged his tail and looked at Basia with surprised eyes. What had happened? Basia froze with her hand outstretched, watching as the sphere slowly began to glow with its own light, showing a mysterious shadow on the wall....
