Granny Zosia's Secret Drawer

For Patrick and Lena, holidays at Grandma Zosia's were always full of surprises. But this summer something even more unusual was about to happen. One afternoon, as a storm raged outside the window, Grandma suggested that the children bake their favourite blueberry scones with her. The kitchen was smelling of cinnamon and yeast when Lena noticed something strange.
One of the drawers in the old kitchen cupboard never allowed itself to be opened. It was a little more ornate than the rest, with a silver pattern shining on the handle, resembling a swirling spiral. - 'Grandma, what's in there? - Patrick asked, pointing to the drawer.
Grandma just smiled mysteriously. - It's a kind of drawer ... for important and unusual things - she said and winked, returning to the cake.
When grandma went out into the garden for a moment to get some fresh mint, Lena couldn't help herself. - Let's have a look in there! - she whispered to Patrick. The boy looked uncertainly, but curiosity won out. They both approached the drawer. Lena pulled the handle - and, surprisingly, this time the drawer opened with a quiet clatter.
Inside were not the usual kitchen utensils. Lying there was a small green notebook, a silver-tipped pencil and a glass ballpoint that seemed to glow slightly even in the twilight of the kitchen. On the bottom of the drawer was painted something else - a map! Only it wasn't a map of any city, but.... of grandma's kitchen! It marked the locations of pots, cupboards and even the old sugar bowl stood in its place.
Suddenly, the notebook opened by itself. Words began to escape from its pages, forming a mysterious inscription in the air: "Find cinnamon where it doesn't smell like cinnamon, and you will find the entrance to a world of everyday wonders."
The children looked at each other with wide-open eyes. At the same moment, a coloured ray gushed from a glass ball, illuminating the spice rack. A gentle trembling of the air could be felt. As Patrick reached for the cinnamon jar, it unexpectedly began to turn, and the salt shaker standing next to it moved by itself....
Then the kitchen lit up with hundreds of tiny sparks and the children felt as if someone was inviting them to step into the middle of an extraordinary adventure.
