Anthony lived in a small town surrounded by woods and fields. He liked the old library there, smelling of dust and old stories. However, on this day, as a light rain fell, Anthony was presented with something far more interesting than books or games on the computer. When the weather was not conducive to playing outside, Anthony paged through the drawers in his late great-grandfather's room. In the deepest of them he found a metal watch on a chain. It was heavy, covered with intricate engravings on the front. As soon as he opened it, the hands began to spin wildly, once one way and then the other. - What a departure! - said Lena, who had just entered through the ajar door. She was Anthony's best friend and loved puzzles and adventures. - After all, it looks like a time machine! Maybe it's some kind of hidden function? Antoni giggled, but the watch still wouldn't stop. As Lena touched the dial, the light in the room went out and everything around them began to blur, as if they were looking through a pane of glass full of rain. In a moment there were new sounds: the clatter of horses' hooves, bells ringing and the din of conversations about completely strange things. When they opened their eyes, Anthony and Lena were standing on the cobbles of the old market square. The town looked familiar, but instead of cars there were horse-drawn carriages, and people wore patched-up clothes. Someone next to them was selling gingerbread, and an old well stood in the middle of the market. - I think... I think we really have travelled back in time," Lena said quietly, grabbing Anthony's hand. At the same moment they felt someone's gaze on them. On the other side of the market stood a boy wearing a baseball cap who looked just like Antony's great-grandfather from old photos. He had the same watch around his neck! The boy waved at them, then turned and ran towards the narrow street. - Are we following him? - whispered Anthony. Before Lena had time to reply, the loud voice of an adult rang out over the market square: - Hey! You two! What are you two doing here! Anthony felt his heart start to beat faster.
