Nina, Robo and the Lost Comet Ship

Nina was sitting in her favourite spot - a wide windowsill by the observation window of the Orion station. Behind the thick glass was a view of glittering stars and flashing meteors. She never imagined that moving from Earth to the space station would be so fascinating, although she did miss the dogs, the trees and the smell of rain a little. But for that she had Robo - her best friend, a robot built by her dad.
Robo could do flips, whistled melodies from Earth and had a unique system installed to recognise Nina's moods. When she was sad, he could make her laugh. Today, however, Nina was excited because she and Robo planned to visit one of the station's most remote locations: The abandoned Hangar Seven.
- Ready? - She asked in a whisper, although she knew Robo could even hear her turning the pages in the book.
- Activating adventure mode! - replied the robot and blinked his eyes, which shone with a blue light.
They took torches, an emergency battery and a packet of dried fruit with them - in case the fun dragged on. Nina knew the station plan by heart, but there were plenty of winding corridors leading towards Hangar Seven. Along the way they passed laboratories, the hydroponics room and the booths of an astronomer who always had interesting facts about the stars.
When they reached the huge, rusting doors of the hangar, Robo raised his antenna.
- 'I'm receiving a signal,' he said in a surprised voice.
- What signal? - Nina furrowed her brow.
- A rescue signal from inside the hangar. Registered as a very old transmission model.
Nina looked at the door. It was clearly unused - covered in a layer of space dust, with the panel locked. But after all, something or someone was on the other side!
- We need to get in there,' she whispered.
Robo connected with the door panel, and the LEDs on his hands lit up. After a moment, the door made a quiet creaking sound and slowly began to open, creaking menacingly. Behind them, darkness waited, and from the depths of the hangar came a quiet, pulsing light. Nina felt goosebumps on the back of her neck.
- 'Let's go,' she said, grabbing Robo's metal hand. They took careful steps deeper into the hangar, listening to every sound. As they reached the centre, the light grew stronger. After a moment, right in front of them, from behind a pile of crates emerged....
