Secret Showcase in the Library

The school library was a place rarely visited after lessons. Most pupils preferred to run around the playground or sit at computers in the common room. Berry, however, loved the silence between the tall bookcases and the sound of turning pages as she delved into worlds invisible to others. One Tuesday afternoon, as the rain drummed against the windows, Jagoda decided to peek into a corner she had never explored before - there was an old, dusty display case right next to the door to the storeroom.
Behind the glass lay bizarre objects: a silver spoon with a broken handle, a tattered ping-pong ball, a rusty key and a small porcelain cup with flowers on it. Intrigued, Berry took a closer look, touching the cold glass with her hand.
Suddenly, she heard a quiet knocking. She looked around - there was only her and Mrs Genowefa in the library, who was taking a nap behind the counter. The knocking was repeated again, this time more clearly. Jagoda leaned over and heard someone - or something - whispering:
- Hey, can you hear us? Help us!
Berry jumped all the way away from the display case. The silver spoon moved and clanged against the glass. The ball began to roll quietly from corner to corner, and the porcelain cup rang gently against the saucer.
- 'Don't be afraid,' a tinny, melodious voice called back. - Here, inside, we have been waiting for years for someone to hear us....
Berry felt shivers run down her spine, but her curiosity quickly won out over her fear. She knelt down in front of the display case and asked in a whisper:
- Who... or rather what are you actually? Why can you speak?
The key clicked and the cup trembled. - 'It's a long story,' the key began, 'but we have very little time. Someone, or something, has been trying to silence us for years. And just today...
At that moment the library door shook with a bang and Mrs Genowefa sprang from her chair. An atmosphere of mystery and sudden danger hung in the air. Berry looked towards the entrance and heard rustling, as if something was trying to get inside....
