The Great Cauldron of Chocolate Catastrophe

The Great Cauldron of Chocolate Catastrophe
If someone asked Max what his favourite day at school was, he would answer without hesitation: Thursday. It was on Thursdays that the whole 5b class had Cooking with a capital G. Mrs Ponyk, a cook with hair smelling of tomato soup and a mood warmer than a radiator, always made sure the children had their hands full - usually making dumplings or stirring something that bubbled and looked suspicious. This Thursday, however, there was something extra. In the corner stood a cauldron bigger than Grandma's bathtub and shone as if all the chocolate in the world was hidden in it. "Today we're going to make a school world record for the amount of hot chocolate cooked!" - announced Mrs Pony, massaging her hands with excitement. Maks, along with Lila - his friend known for always carrying at least three types of chewing gum and not knowing how to be quiet - were assigned to help melt the chocolate. Their task seemed simple: - Please make sure the chocolate doesn't burn and add milk when needed! - chuckled Mrs. Ponyk, and then she dismissed herself to the next room. - We will set a record too! - whispered Lila to Max. - A record for the biggest chocolate mousse! Before Maks could protest, Lila was already adding a bit of this, a pinch of that and a whole lot of foaming powder (which she had found in the cleaning products cupboard) to the cauldron. Everything started bubbling, hissing and... rising. Chocolate foam began to escape from the cauldron, like crushed snakes at a festival. Maks tried to control the situation by stirring furiously with a spoon, but the more he stirred, the higher the foam reached. Lila, meanwhile, was running around with her bowls, trying to catch the escaping chocolate, but only splashed it all over the countertops and walls. - What do we do! - shouted Maks as the foam reached the ceiling and began to ooze through the ventilation into the next room. At that moment, Mrs Pony's voice rang out: - Is everything okay here? Lila looked at Maks in a panic, and the chocolate foam just started to squeeze under the door into the corridor. In a moment, the whole school could see the biggest chocolate flood in history....
