The Lost Compass of Shadows

The attic of Antek's old house was always full of strange things. But this afternoon he found something special - an iron compass with an engraved wolf. He and his friend Zosia studied it for a long moment, until suddenly the pointer began to turn at a frantic pace, then stopped, pointing to a misty path behind the house. - Do you think it leads to the treasure? - Zosia asked, and her eyes lit up with excitement. They both moved ahead, following the compass pointer. The path led them through a dense forest, completely unfamiliar to them. The trees seemed to whisper something to each other, and each step produced echoes of hitherto unheard sounds. Suddenly they came upon a large, moss-covered gate on which were carved strange symbols and the silhouette of a wolf identical to the one on the compass. - I think this is... invitation? - whispered Antos. Zosia put her compass to the gate. At the same moment, the gates began to open with a bang, and from behind them emerged a misty path glittering with silver light. From the depths of the forest came their quiet, mysterious laughter and soft rustling, as if someone or something was waiting for them on the other side. Without a word they looked at each other and took the first step through the gate. Behind their backs, the gate slammed shut with a quiet click, and before them stretched a completely different world, full of moving shadows, glowing stones and singing trees. Only the compass in their hand began to glow blue, and the pointer turned faster and faster....
