The School under the Cracked Bell

All the residents of Anemone Hill knew that the School under the Cracked Bell was different from the others. Although it was colourful and bustling with children's laughter, something inside it quietly whispered of long-forgotten secrets. Most talked about was the bell hanging over the entrance - huge, covered in cobwebs and a a huge cracked scar running from the top all the way down. Sebastian, a fourth-grade student, looked at it every day. He often wondered why he had never heard his voice. The school legend said that the bell would only ring when someone discovered a secret hidden within the building's walls. However, no one knew what this secret was about. One rainy Thursday, Sebastian was sitting with Jasia and Klara in the school library. Among the old textbooks, they came across a mysterious notebook with a cover decorated with a picture of.... a bell. The cover was golden and had engraved letters on it: "Journal of the Guardian of Sound". Sebastian couldn't help himself and opened the notebook. On the first page was a strange poem: "Under the fence of shadows, where time hides, There sound closed before dawn came. He who first finds the key of slumbering silence, Will awaken the bell - a power forgotten." The friends exchanged glances. Their hearts beat faster. In whispers, they began to discuss what the "key of silence" meant and where to look for the "fence of shadows". Then a quiet clatter sounded from behind the bookcase. Someone or something seemed to be listening to their conversation.... Sebastian gently closed the notebook. At the same moment, a light flashed on the shelf above their heads and a hitherto invisible, a tiny door. From behind it, a muffled ringing could be heard - very quiet, as if coming from another world. The friends froze. Should they open the door? Or was this the very beginning of the adventure the whole school had dreamt of? Little did they know that nothing would be the same from that moment on....
