The day the Luminello Circus came to town, Nadia and Tymon thought of nothing else. It was a circus known for its amazing shows - acrobats on ropes high above the ground, levitating clowns and illusionists who could make a penguin disappear from the stage and colourful butterflies fall out of a hat. After school, the friends ran to the huge striped tent that stood on the old football field. They both had tickets, but knew that the real magic was where the audience was not allowed - backstage. When they saw the torn canvas in the side wall of the tent, Nadia didn't hesitate for a moment. They slipped inside and found themselves in a maze of strings, boxes, cages and flickering lights. There was the smell of candyfloss and straw mulch. Artists in colourful costumes flitted past, looking suspicious. Tymon noticed that one of the clowns had left a key lying on an old barrel. Nadia picked it up and immediately noticed a large box in the corner, covered with strange signs. Above it, someone had written "DO NOT OPEN!" on an old poster. Her heart was beating like crazy as she turned the key in the lock. Inside the crate something moved and... at that moment they heard the footsteps of the illusionist approaching. Nadia and Tymon looked at each other with wide-open eyes - would they find a magic object inside, or... something else entirely?
