The Secret Passage behind the Library Wall

The school library has always been unusually quiet. But this afternoon something was different. Marta, Maks and Lena were waiting for the teacher, bored terribly. Running her fingers over the spines of old books, Marta came across a thick, dusty encyclopaedia that clearly looked different from the others. - Look at this! - she exclaimed, trying to pull it out. The encyclopaedia refused to budge. Maks came closer and together they pulled once, twice, until suddenly the bookcase began to creak and slowly moved away from the wall! Hidden behind the bookcase was a small door, almost invisible in the shadows. It had a strange, twisted key hanging from a silver chain. The atmosphere became incredibly mysterious. - Do you think we can open them? - Lena asked, a little frightened but very curious. Maks reached for the key. It fit perfectly. The door creaked open and slowly swung open, and a cool gust of air and light burst from behind it, full of colours they had never seen before. - 'It looks like this is no ordinary passage,' whispered Marta. All three of them took a step towards the mysterious land, and as soon as they crossed the threshold, the door slammed shut behind them. Before their eyes stretched a completely different world - full of flying books, twinkling trees and rivers flowing in the air. Maks wanted to say something, but at the same moment there was a rustling sound among the trees. Something - or someone - was approaching fast towards them....
