Time travellers

The sun was rising over the small town of Feldon when two friends, Jack and Emma, climbed into the quiet, secret-filled attic of Emma's parents' old house. Neither of them expected what awaited them there.
'Maybe we'll find old treasure maps or my great-grandmother's love letters in there!" joked Emma, while Jack nervously looked around holding a torch.
Among the old boxes, toys and books, Emma spotted something that looked like an old clock. 'Hey, Jack, look at this!" she called out. The clock was covered in a layer of dust, but when Emma wiped it with her sleeve, something began to shine. It was a beautiful standing clock, with a dial reminiscent of old world maps. But something about it was unusual. In addition to the usual numerals, there were extra ones, resembling dates.
As soon as Emma touched one of the mysterious digits, they grabbed each other's hands in horror. The room began to whirl, and then everything suddenly disappeared. When they opened their eyes, they were surrounded by a completely different world.
They were in the middle of a huge forest, where the trees were so tall that they touched the clouds, and the animals looked completely different from the ones they knew. It was clear that this was not a place they knew. They looked at each other in disbelief. Could this have been true? Were they really travelling through time?
